Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Nightaris ("we", "us") makes the PhoneBox app for iPhone ("the App"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the App and this website. In short: your logs and photos never leave your iPhone. The App reads them on the device and sends nothing from them to us or to anyone else.
1. Your logs stay on your iPhone
- Panic analyzer, Battery health, Device info, Device specs and the widgets all work on your iPhone. The logs and analytics files you paste, open or share into the App are read on the device.
- We do not upload, store or view your logs, the results the App shows, or the identifiers inside a log (such as serial numbers or device identifiers) on any server of ours, and we do not use them to train AI models.
- The App does not keep a library of your logs. A file shared into the App is removed from the App's storage once it has been read.
- Nothing from a log, a photo or a result (its text, its codes, the model read from it, the diagnosis) is passed to the ad network, to analytics or to crash reports.
2. What the App reads about your iPhone
Device info and the widgets show readings that iOS gives every app: the model, iOS version, storage, memory in use, processor load, thermal state and battery level. They are read on the device, shown to you, and shared with the App's own widgets through storage that only the App can reach. They are not sent to us.
3. Permissions
- Tracking (App Tracking Transparency): asks whether ads may use your device's advertising identifier. It is asked after you have seen a first result, never before. The App works the same whichever you choose.
- Files and Paste: the system file picker gives the App only the files you choose, and the system Paste button gives it only what you paste.
4. What we do not collect
- No account, name, email address or phone number is needed to use the App.
- We do not access your contacts, photos library, location, calendars or browsing history.
5. Services that receive limited data
None of these services receives your logs, photos or results.
5.1 Purchases (Apple)
PhoneBox Premium is a one-time purchase sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; the App checks the purchase on the device with Apple's StoreKit and needs no server of ours. See Apple's privacy policy.
5.2 Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. Google may process your IP address, device and app information, and, only if you allow tracking, the advertising identifier (IDFA), to show, limit and measure ads. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some U.S. states), the App asks for your consent through Google's consent message before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice later in the App's Settings, under Ad choices. Apple's SKAdNetwork may be used to measure ad installs without identifying you. With Premium, the ad SDK is not started. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
5.3 Analytics and crash reports (Firebase)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to learn, in aggregate, which screens and actions are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports (device model, iOS version and the technical state of the App at the time of the crash). Events name screens and actions only; they never contain anything from a log or a result. This data is pseudonymous. See Firebase's privacy information.
6. Website
This website is static and sets no cookies. It runs no analytics or advertising script. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site. Links to the App Store carry a campaign name (for example home_en) so that Apple's App Store Connect can tell us, in aggregate, which page led to a download; it does not identify you.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your settings and the App's readings are stored on your device and are removed when you delete the App. Data held by the services above is kept according to their own policies; you can reset your advertising identifier or turn off tracking in iOS Settings at any time.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to certain processing. Because we keep no account and no logs for you, almost all data exists only on your device. For data processed by the services above, contact us and we will help you reach them, or use their own tools.
10. Changes
We may update this policy when the App changes. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
